Goodbye

How can I make myself say goodbye?
How can I ignore these tears I cry?
I won’t forget the times I smiled.
I know it’s all been so worthwhile.

I know there is a reason.
I know this is a season.
Sometimes I don’t understand.
Sometimes I forget you have a plan.

But why does it have to be right now?
I know it will work out, but how?
These tears I cry are a plea.
Please just stop this misery.

I’ve seen what God has done.
I’ve seen in your eyes his Son.
He’s been working all along.
He’s telling you, you will be strong.

So now as I say goodbye,
I’m aware of all these tears I cry.
So thank you for the friend you’ve been.
You’ll be my brother ‘till the end.
